Following a traumatic incident during his residency, young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) is transferred to a rural hospital to start over. Noticing that James is having a hard time connecting with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran stage and screen actor Michael Potts) suggests that he take a class on how to treat patients and how to facilitate closer relationships with them. The demons of James’ past begin to catch up with him when he is affected by the case of a young asthmatic patient (Sidney Flanigan, NEVER SOMETIMES ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to weaken as his disturbing nightmares, anxious speculations, and physical injuries collide with the harsh realities of the medical world. Following in the footsteps of its predecessors SAINT FRANCES and GHOSTLIGHT, director Alex Thompson assembles a strong cast of veteran actors, guided by this humanistic and unconventional take on the genre.
